Welcome to my Academic Archive. My journey to obtain an M.A. in Distance Education has been enlightening and rewarding. I have learned Adult Learning Theory, instructional design, digital rights, how to determine the cost of DE, and the role of technology in Distance Education. Throughout the process, I have used what I have learned at my job and have been able to share my knowledge with my professional peers. Please see a few samples of my work below.
During 2019, I completed the year long Association for Talent Development (ATD) Master Trainer Program in 2019. The program was grounded in adult learning theory and focused on practice and application. It offered a unique assessment-based certificate that covered the entire process of delivering training, including assessment, preparation, creating a positive learning environment, facilitating learning, and evaluating learning.
Along with writing papers, we were asked to present our research in presentation form. This is a course I designed on Business Writing. It’s a course that I am frequently ask to present as a part of my career development responsibilities.
Library and Intellectual Property was one of my favorite classes. I’ve always has a strong interest in copyright laws and this course taught us how to manage intellectual property and digital rights. I found this class to be one of the most informative ones I’ve taken. In a work and education enviroment we are often asked to create content that ultimately belongs to our employer. It was important to learn what rights the individual has and the rights companies have.
RESEARCH PAPER – This paper critiques the article, “Social Justice, Economics and Distance Education,” by UK based Educational Consultant, Greville Rumble. Rumble’s article was published in Open Learning: The Journal of Open and Distance Learning in 2007.
PRESENTATION – Why We Should Convert FOBTC to a DE Course – I have always been a strong proponent of being able to convert traditional in-class courses to DE courses. For this assignment, I argued the benefits of transitioning a course at my job to a DE coaurse. Here is the link. I used a program called VoiceThread. I found it an innovative way to create a presentation. Link – https://voicethread.com/share/11199940/
